Ornament/Necklace Display
I saw on Kelly’s blog a lovely ornament display tree that her family was using as a Jesse Tree! Fabulous idea, BTW!!! But I already had a Jesse Tree for this year, so my mind wondered over to a different problem. Our Christmas tree (artificial) is very small. Rather, it’s very narrow. It stands about 6 ft. tall but it’s not very full which means that we can’t fit as many ornaments on it as if it was nice and wide. Since my children have been gifted ornaments from relatives and friends over the years, their personal collections are significant. For the past few years, Husband and I have not had any space to put our ornaments on the tree. And I was a bit heartbroken thinking that the children wouldn’t know them or remember them fondly if they just stayed packed away in a box. Some of them are from when we were first married on our honeymoon, some were gifts from grandparents who are no longer here, some are the only ones that survived many childhood moves and years of packing and unpacking.

My necklaces
Iwrote a few weeks ago about how my necklaces have become symbols for me. They give me strength. I’ve added a couple more, and thought I’d share my favorites. My necklace display board is an old bulletin board. I stuck in pushpins and hang my necklaces. This keeps them from getting tangled, and it just makes me happy to see them hanging there each morning before I leave for work. This is one of my first necklaces. It’s a Lisa Leonard . It had tarnished pretty badly, but I found it last weekend and shined it up. Put a new 24″ chain on it. Love it. These are two of my newest. The one on the left has the kids’ names on it, and the star is kind of my thing. I love the stars. They make me dream. The one on the right is by Chantelle Nicole . The other is by Daisy Metal Creations . I can’t even explain how much I love her work.

Well, this ain’t exactly the newspaper kiosk most people have in mind! Australian skin-care company Aesop opened their first American store in New York’s Grand Central Terminal. They decided that newspaper would work better than regular ol’ cabinet displays: Designed by Aesop director Dennis Paphitis and Brooklyn architect Jeremy Barbour of Tacklebox, the place takes the great American newspaper and uses it the way every American does: by piling stuff on it. The Aesop kiosk is made of roughly 1,800 torn copies of the New York Times. Laid flat, piled up one on top of the other, and held together by a wooden frame, they create little display stands for Aesop’s assorted body scrubs and facial hydrating creams. Link .

Today I finished up a new spring styling wall. It’s full of pretty jewelry and eclectic touches. It’s inspired by bohemian and gypsy style with lots of old family photos snuck in, just for fun! I used tissue to make the chevron fringe necklace display for our new Moorea Seal pieces, lots of book paper, braided fabric and some tear outs from a Top Shop catalog. It’s safe to say I’m FULLY in the mood for spring. Emma and I bought loads of high waisted pants this week and we’re sending a bunch to the seamstress to make high waisted shorts!
